Finland Urged to Push for Gay Rights in Middle East

According to the Pink News, the International Gay and Lesbian Association (IGLA) has pushed Finland, which currently holds the European Union presidency, to push for gay right in new member states, including Turkey, and the Middle East in general. A quote:
[The IGLA's list of demands] calls on the EU to protect “fundamental rights
and equality” and to ensure new and potential member states such as Bulgaria,
Turkey, Romania, Croatia and Macedonia protect the lesbian, gay, bisexual and
transgender community as well as Third World and Middle Eastern countries.

Amen. If Turkey wants to join the EU, it should abide by EU standards for human rights.
